Position Summary

Ed Inquiry Teen Leaders will work in virtual online classrooms assisting a math instructor, leading a class of 10 to 15 middle school students. 

Middle school students in the program will work together on a real-world math project like buying a car or getting an apartment.

As a Teen Leader, you will be in the classroom, engaging with students and gaining skills and experience for your future. You will be responsible for assisting in the Ed Inquiry virtual classroom 3 days per week.

We provide training for you.

If you enjoy math, have good computer skills and access to a fast internet connection you can earn this summer while you learn.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to attend for 6 weeks in July and August.
  • Commit to assist instructors in virtual classrooms Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
  • Be present, engaged, responsible and ready to try something new
  • Work with middle school students as they engage with math and their summer projects.

Workdays / Hours

  • Assisting days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Three 2-hour sessions of synchronous instruction per day
  • Must be able to commit to an assigned daily schedule
  • Must be able to commit to the 6 week sessions

Qualifications

  • Must be a high school student residing in the state of Massachusetts (at least 9th grader in 2022-2023)
  • Commit to full program dates (June 26th- August 19th)
  • Availability Monday-Thursday
  • Work with middle school students as they engage with math and their summer projects.
  • Able to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to problem solve; be OK asking for help.
  • Experience with online workspace technology is a plus. (Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.)
  • Collaborate with instructors and other teen leaders to create engaging activities and lessons.
  • Be flexible, adaptable, and willing to assist in other areas of the BWMC
  • Ability to attend virtual/in person- leadership orientation training and workshops.
  • Team player; be able to work cohesively with peers.
  • Able to work with a classroom instructor to motivate and assist all program participants. Workdays / Hours
  • Mandatory Orientation June 26th – June 30th
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, MANDATORY Professional Development on Thursdays
  • Three two-hour sessions of synchronous instruction per day
  • Must be able to commit to an assigned daily schedule
  • Must be able to commit to the six-week sessions
